O manejo agroflorestal científico como um uso alternativo de recursos naturais na Amazônia Brasileira

Abstract

Este texto examina a aplicabilidade do manejo agroflorestal de base científica às necessidades de dois segmentos da população rural da Amazônia brasileira: grupos tribais nativos e grupos ribeirinhos ou “caboclos”. O texto apresenta um conceito contextualizado de manejo agroflorestal e faz uma revisão de uma parte da literatura pertinente. Focaliza o potencial que esse manejo tem de ajudar nativos e caboclos e criar ou ampliar uma produção agropecuária silvicultural direcionada para o mercado. O texto propõe que o manejo agroflorestal de base científica, combinado com práticas tradicionais de manejo, tende a gerar renda monetária para esses grupos a partir da produção confiável de bens com bom valor de mercado, além de dar mais segurança à produção de bens para subsistência.
